Akatsi (V/R), March 22, GNA - MTN Ghana has donated 145 sets of science tools to the Apostles Revelation Society (ARS) basic school at Akatsi in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region.
The donation in the Volta Region is part of 16 schools earmarked nationwide for the package.
The tools have 45 different components to perform 26 experiments related to course areas in the basic school syllabus, including building a simple circuit, understanding properties of light, learning of electromagnetism, transistor and resistor.
Mr Mawuli Katahena, Volta Regional Team Lead, MTN Ghana, handing over the sets, said the Company came out with the support after it searched and identified lack of science teaching and learning kits as hindrance to pupils grasping science concepts easily.
"MTN came out with the tool to help basic school students to grasp the practical knowledge of their studies to enhance science education", he said.
Mr Katahena said the instrument is a foundation for skills acquisition drive in the country and urged the pupils to make good use of them.
Mr Leo Nelson Adzidogah, Akatsi South District Chief Executive, who received the donation on behalf of the Ghana Education Service (GES) commended MTN for the support for science education in the country.
He said the donation is in line with government's plan to industrialise the country, saying the tools would help lay a foundation for future scientists and technologists the country needed.
Mr Mawuli Amedofu, Business Development Consultant, Dext Technology Limited, designers and producers of the sets, said "the tool is to help students perform science experiments that are in the syllabus".
He said the hands-on learning tool will make students become problem solvers, explorers and innovators as the experimentations made the subject easy to them.
Mr Victor Kovey, Director of Human Resource, Akasti District Secretariat, Ghana Education Service (GES), commended MTN for selecting the school and the District and gave the assurance that the tools would be put to good use.
