Accra, March 20 GNA - An Evangelist Dr. David Thomas Aboagye Mensah has called for institutionalised prayers for Ghana in order ‘’to move the hand of God’’ to help solve the numerous challenges confronting the nation.
Dr Mensah, 64 Founder and President of Christian Universal Evangelism Network (CUEN), a Christian Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) made the call in a News release copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra.
The Evangelist who is a teacher, an author and a lawyer by profession in the release said, he had volunteered to play the role of a ‘’Prayer Ambassador’’ for the nation and would mobilise the over 70 per cent Christians population in the country to pray intensively and regularly for Ghana.
Evangelist Dr. Aboagye-Mensah said he quit practising as a lawyer about 25 years ago in order to propagate the word of God. He said he was prepared to ‘’tap the untapped’’ enormous prayer potential and power of Christian believers in the country for the benefit of mother Ghana.
His mission according to him, was not in the least to suggest that churches, fellowships, individual believers and other religious denominations were not praying for the nation.
Mobilisation of the Christian community, Evangelist Dr. Aboagye-Mensah posited, was now going to be on a large scale with greater involvement, participation and very regular, unlike before.
To accomplish his objective which he admitted was quite gigantic, the Evangelist said he was going to liaise with the various known and recognised Christian bodies and fellowships like the Christian Council of Ghana, the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, the Catholic Bishops Conference, Independent Churches Association, Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship and Women’s Aglow International.
To facilitate a smooth, take off of the programme, Evangelist Dr. Aboagye-Mensah is advocating the establishment of national, regional, Metropolitan, Municipal and District prayer committees made up of representatives from the various Christian bodies and fellowships charged with the sole responsibility of planning, organising and executing prayer programmes on regular basis for the nation.
The Evangelist said the whole programme would be under the broad banner ‘’Sustained Unity, Peace, Development and Prosperity for the nation Ghana.
Evangelist Dr. Aboagye-Mensah said he would soon start travelling around the 16 regions in the country, where churches and fellowships had already been well-established.
He appealed to the government, churches and fellowships, media houses, corporate institutions and philanthropists for support and sponsorship to make the programme a reality.
