Old Ningo (GAR), March 20, GNA - Mrs Comfort Homeku, Head Mistress, Old Ningo Presbyterian Basic School, has called on benevolent organizations, philanthropists, the government as well as individuals to help the school acquire basic things to function properly as a school.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, she noted that, inadequate classrooms and furniture were major problems facing the school.
She revealed that about 70 students were packed into one classroom with three students sharing one desk, a situation she said, was adversely affecting teaching and learning.
Mrs. Homeku again noted that, roofing sheets on some of the classrooms had deteriorated and needed replacement to save lives in the school, adding that students were sent home anytime the rains came.
She said some students nearly lost their lives due to a rainstorm some few days ago hence the decision to send them home anytime the clouds gathered.
"I have drawn the attention of the various authorities in the district to our problems but to no avail,'" she said.
The Old Ningo Presbyterian Basic school has a student population of 624 pupils and 14 teaching staff.
