Nyinahin (Ash), March, 14, GNA – Ms. Francisca Oteng Mensah, Board Chairperson of the National Youth Authority (NYA) has reiterated government’s resolve to provide the needed infrastructure at the local levels for the promotion of sporting activities.
She said government was bent on encouraging community level sporting activities and use its multiple advantage as a unifying tool to bring the people together, whiles improving their health and also creating employment avenues at the same time.
Ms. Oteng stated this when she led the board to inspect construction works on the Nyinahin youth centre the Atwima-Mponua District.
She expressed satisfaction at the progress of work at the centre and said the youth centres being constructed across the country, were to create opportunities for young people to unearth their talents and potentials at the local levels, as part of general sports development in the country.
The Nyinahin centre would have a 5,000 expandable capacity, an 8-lane tartan track, a multipurpose sports court and an ICT resource centre.
Other facilities in the stadium are a counselling centre, changing rooms, a caretaker’s office and a restaurant.
She commended the site contractor for a good work done and the quality of building materials being used.
She was hopeful that the project would be completed sooner and handed over to the government for commissioning.
Mr. George William Mensah, the Project Site Contractor, said barring any unforeseeable contingencies, the project would be completed in September this year.
He said due to the cumbersome nature of the grounds work and other few constraints, they had to request for extension of the project completion time.
Altimate Kristal Vision Limited, is the company working on the project.
