Accra, March 14, GNA - The Embassy of Israel and the Dance Department of the University of Ghana, Legon have launched a festival of dance, dubbed: "Dance Bridges" in Accra.
The event, the first of its kind, is to celebrate traditional folklore and contemporary dance acts, performed by both Israeli and Ghanaian dancers.
Madam Shani Cooper, the Ambassador of Israel to Ghana, said Liberia and Sierra Leone had already launched their festival of dance, adding that the event was of great significance to the relations between Israel and the two countries.
She said the event would Ghanaians and Israelis the opportunity to learn more about each other's culture to promote cooperation and understanding to strengthen the relationship between the two.
Madam Cooper expressed her deep appreciation to the Dance Department of the University of Ghana for the cooperation.
Professor Kofi Agyekum, the Dean of the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, urged students to learn from the event.
"I want graduate students to benefit from the seminars and everything else that they can learn from this event. Do not let the week be in vain," he said.
"We would ensure that this collaboration serves as a basis for improved relationship between the two countries in future."
The week-long event ends on Saturday, March 16, 2019.
