Accra, March 13, GNA - The Ghana Armed Forces has held an Open Day for all the Military Garrisons in the country.
The Day, which was introduced in former President Kuffour’s regime, was to reconcile and bring closer civilians and the military in the society.
At the Burma Camp Airforce Base in Accra, a large number of school children were seen lined-up outside the Airforce Base waiting to have a flight experience.
Flight Lieutenant Ama Serwaa, the Media Officer, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said three military helicopters were assigned for the exercise.
She said the helicopters were two MI 17 and one Z9 helicopter adding that the flights began at 0600hrs and ended 1700hrs.
More so, she said, Coca Cola and Indomine companies were there to support the Open Day with their products.
A young lad from Glory International School told the GNA that he was impressed with the exercise since it will give many of his friends the chance to participate in a flight.
He appealed to government to aid the useful effort by supplying more aviation fuel to the authorities.
The Reconnaissance Unit (RECCE) at the Burma Camp thrilled the children with their varied armoured vehicles and some visibly excited children joined in their patrol.
