Eastern Regional Minister commissions two school projects

Senchi (E/R), March 12, GNA - The Asuogyaman District Assembly has constructed a six-unit and three-unit classroom blocks with ancillary facilities for the Senchi Methodist Junior High School (JHS) and the Anum Anglican School respectively.

The six-unit classroom block was constructed at a cost of 400,000.00 Ghana cedis, while the three-unit block cost 304,500 Ghana cedis, funded by the Asuogyaman District Assembly and the GETFund.

Mr Eric Kwakye Darfour, the Eastern Regional Minister and the Asuogyaman District Chief Executive, Mr Samuel Kwame Agyekum, commissioned the two blocks.

Mr Darfour encouraged the pupils to make the best use of the facilities and study hard to attain the highest on the educational ladder.

He advised parents to play their roles effectively to support the shaping of their children’s future by giving them the basic materials to aid in their studies.

He urged the schools to periodically maintain the facilities to stand the test of time to benefit the furure generation as well.

Mr Agyekum expressed the hope that the facilities would go a long way to improve the standard of education in the District.

He said the District had started to reap the fruits of hard work, as the pass rate had improved from 68 per cent in 2017 to 73 per cent in 2018. It also moved up in the Regional Ranking from the 17th to the 10th position.

Mr Agyekum, on his part, said the District Education Oversight Committee, which had not been active in the past six years, had been revived to effectively steer the affairs of education. 

As part of the commissioning, 100 pieces of tablet arm school chairs were presented to the Anum Vocational Institute by the District Assembly.
