Bolgatanga, March 11, GNA – Worthy Brother Francis Azande Ayaaba, the Upper East Regional Youth Coordinator of the 39 Junior Knights and Ladies of Marshall, has called on youth organizations to inculcate into children the spirit of giving.
He said it is important to teach children about the Bible and encourage them not to only be listeners of the word, but put to practice lessons from the holy Bible.
Worthy Brother Ayaaba said “if children are taught to share, they will grow to know that they are each others keeper, and this will create harmony in society.”
He said “when children are taught to give, they grow with it and it becomes an integral part of their life and they begin to feel for each other.”
Worthy Brother Ayaaba said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency during a presentation of items by the 39 Junior wing of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall to patients at the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga.
The donation included bars of soap and fruit juice.
The Youth Coordinator said the gesture was part of their yearly Lenten charity activities, where they fast, pray and give arms to the less privileged.
He said the Junior Knights and Ladies in the past visited orphanages, but time, they decided to put smiles on the faces of patients, especially children who unfortunately found themselves in the hospital.
He acknowledged the efforts of Noble Lady Sister Vida Atiah, Grand Knight Brother Roland Akolgo and all Brothers and Sisters of Marshall who supported the children in diverse ways to present the gifts to the patients at the hospital.
Mr Mark Anthony Azongo, a Paediatric Nurse Specialist at the Hospital, who received the items on behalf of the Hospital, thanked the group for the gesture.
He used the opportunity to call on Non-Governmental Organizations and philanthropists to come to the aid of parents of children on admission who were not registered on the National Health Insurance Scheme or those whose cards had expired by absorbing their medical bills.
