Cape Coast, Feb. 25, GNA - Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency, on Friday donated quantities of medical supplies worth GH¢60,000.00 to Assin Foso Polyclinic, to boost health care delivery.
The items include; two motorcycles, microscope autoclave machines, blood bank refrigerator, 10 sets of beds, chairs, refrigerators, baby scale machines and theatre equipment.
He also donated six acres of land to begin the construction of a Nursing Training College in the Municipality and promised to buy a 40kv generator, air conditioners, incubators and other theatre equipment for the Directorate.
Handing over the items, the outspoken Legislator said the donation formed part of his personal commitment to health care delivery with funding from the Common Fund.
The MP said the lack of medical devices needed to save the lives in most hospitals motivated him to acquire the equipment for the Polyclinic.
The prime location of the facility was key to offering quality healthcare delivery services to greater number of the surrounding communities in the Assin South and North Constituencies.
Mr Agyapong commended health personnel in the Municipality for their unflinching commitment to good health care delivery in the area and urged them to sustain it.
Mr. George Opoku Asumadu, the Municipal Health Director, who received the items praised the MP for his benevolence saying it had come at an opportune time to meet the growing health needs of the people and encouraged the staff to relate with community members in the course of their work to help promote development.
He pledged dedicated services by staff of the directorate and called on all stakeholders to support the course of health care delivery in the Municipality.
In a similar exercise, the Municipal Director’s bungalow, which had been renovated by the Assembly was officially handed over to the directorate.
