Abease (B/A), Feb. 21, GNA – Acute water shortage has hit Abease, Komfourkrom and surrounding communities in the Pru East District of the newly created Bono East Region.
Currently, residents solely depend on streams, but they have to walk several kilometres for water as many of the streams in the area have dried up due to erratic rains.
This unpleasant situation Mr Robert Owusu, the Head teacher of the Komfourkrom R/C Primary School, said was affecting effective academic work leading to absenteeism among teachers and school children.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency Mr Owusu said sometimes the few teachers and children who attend school arrived quite late, a situation which is hindering effective teaching and learning.
“Many of the school children and teachers don’t take their bath before they come to school and you can just imagine the inconveniences”, he said and appealed to the District Assembly to come to their aid.
