Wassa Sompre (W/R), February 13, GNA - The Divisional Chief of Wassa Sompre in Wassa Amenfi Central of the Western Region, Nana Sasraku Gyimah II in collaboration with Amenfi Youth for Western North Region, a pressure group has commissioned a secretariat at Sompre.
The purpose of the secretariat is to collate information on the creation of the Western North Region.
The office is equipped with a desktop computer, laptop, printer, scanner and a projector and a screen.
Addressing a durbar on behalf of Nana Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II, Paramount Chief of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Nana Gyimah II said the people of Wassa Amenfi have embraced the creation of the new region and are appealing to the government to include them in the Western North Region as discussed earlier.
He mentioned a few challenges that has bedevilled them saying "all the roads in the traditional area are not motorable. This make our food stuffs and our cash crops left at the farm gate to deteriorate. No school in the area has been added to the school feeding programme".
Nana Gyimah II, acknowledged Professor Franklin Nyame, Head of Geological Department University of Ghana Legon for his immerse contribution both in cash and kind towards the establishment of the secretariat.
He was also grateful for all the Divisional chiefs who graced the occasion.
Nana Fabil Ankoamoah II, Divisional chief of Wassa Adjumako, indicated that the traditional area cannot boast of a teacher training college and a referral hospital that is close to them.
"We are yearning for a change, it is time we sit up and develop to uplift the image of Wassa Amenfi" he advised.
Nana Gyenin Opempeh, Tufohene of Wassa Dominase, who chaired the occasion, advised the youth to be law abiding and express the hope that their plight would be considered because the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was a listening President.
