Accra, Feb. 11, GNA – A mechanic Awudu Salam, on Monday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court charged with conspiracy to commit crime, causing unlawful damage, unlawful entry, and robbery.
Awudu was said to have conspired, caused unlawful damage to a burglar proof worth GH¢70.00 and unlawfully entered the house of one Obed Kwao with intent to commit crime, threatened him with a cutlass and robbed him.
He robbed the complainant of his one Iphone 7 plus worth GH¢3,000.00, one Iphone 6 worth GH¢1,700.00, a gold watch worth GH¢80.00, jewelleries worth GH¢300.00, Asus 13 laptop worth GH¢1,800.00, Ipad worth GH¢3,000.00, an amount of GH¢1,000.00 and US$62.00.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded by the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh to reappear on February 25.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Tenkoran told the court that, the complainant Obed, is a Reverend Minister residing at Adenta, whilst the accused person is a mechanic residing at Madina.
He said on January 21, at about 03:00 hours whilst the complainant and his wife were asleep, the accused and two other persons now at large, conspired to carry out a robbery operation in the complainant’s compound.
He said they scaled the complainant’s fence wall into his house and used an industrial cutter to cut the burglar proof of the complainant’s living room window thereby gaining ingress into the house.
The prosecution said the accused person and his accomplice ended up stealing a Samsung 40inch television set and proceeded to break the bedroom, tied up the complainant with a tape and made away with the above listed items.
Chief Inspector Tenkoran told the court that a report was made to the police and investigations led to the arrest of the accused person, but his accomplice managed to escape.
A search at his residence revealed the complainant’s Iphone 7 plus.
