Accra, Jan. 31 GNA - There was a near brawl in Parliament between Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, Minority Chief Whip and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central over the contempt case referred to the privileges committee.
The two legislators before parliamentary proceedings on Wednesday freely used insulting words against each other.
The visibly infuriated legislators had to be physically restrained by other colleague MPs from attacking each other.
The confrontation follows the recent case brought before the Privileges Committee by Alhaji Muntaka against Kennedy Agyapong over comments he made allegedly inciting the public against the late investigative journalists, Ahmed Hussein-Suale.
The Speaker of Parliament on Tuesday referred a case of contempt of Parliament brought against Ken Agyapong by Alhaji Muntaka to the Privileges Committee of the House
According Alhaji Muntaka, the MP for Assin Central’s incitement of violence against the Tiger Eye PI undercover journalist was in contempt of parliament.
He said: “I made this complaint of contempt of parliament against my own colleague for the embarrassment and uncalled for comments and incitement of the public against a member of the public that unfortunately led to the death of the gentleman.”
Ahmed Hussein-Suale was shot and killed by two men on a motorbike on January 16, 2019 at Madina, a suburb of Accra while driving home around 10 p.m.
The Minority at a news conference asked the police to arrest the Assin Central MP as a key suspect in the matter.
Ahmed was allegedly killed by two men on a motorbike, while he was leaving home late on January 16, 2019, at Madina, a suburb of Accra.
Kennedy Agyapong has come under fire for allegedly inciting violence against Suale during the heat of the Number 12 exposé which exposed deep corruption in Ghana football.
But Mr Kennedy Agyapong has insisted that he has nothing to do with the death of the uncover journalist, Hussein-Suale.
