Nayorigo (U/E), Jan. 31, GNA – The Nayorigo Community in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region would soon receive more development projects including health, energy and agriculture among others.
Mr Lawrence Akema-kapoe, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Coordinator for the Nayorigo-Bungu Electoral Area, made this known at a community durbar to inform members of the community about government programmes and policies.
He said the community would benefit from the construction of a Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compound to improve on health delivery, especially among women; and the extension of electricity to houses without electricity power in the area.
In addition, the community would benefit from a dam expansion under the One Village One Dam policy to improve on agriculture production which would create employment for the youth and improve on the livelihoods of the people in the community.
Mr Akema-kapoe said this over the weekend at a community engagement programme organized by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Nayorigo Community, a suburb of the Bongo District of the Upper East Region.
He said the NPP government has shown commitment towards the welfare of the people through its numerous interventions including the ‘Free Senior High School’, ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ and the creation of employment opportunities among others.
Mr Akema-kapoe said the community has received its fair share of employment opportunities with the youth securing permanent job opportunities under the limited Ghana Education Service recruitment and other fields as well as temporal employment in youth in afforestation, community policing assistants among others.
He assured his community members that he was committed to ensuring that the community benefited from its fair share of every single development project meant for the Bongo District.
Mr Peter Ayamga Ayinbisa, the Bongo District Chief Executive (DCE), in a speech read on his behalf, assured the people of the Nayorigo-Bungu Electoral Area that even though the community was not selected to benefit from the Small Town Water System project this year, plans are advanced to ensure that the community is included in the next phase of the project.
The DCE pledged to operate an open-door policy and reiterated his commitment to undertake a non-partisan pattern of development to ensure that the development needs of all communities are met.
Mr Abazigra Agoone, the representative of the Nayorigo community chief, commended government for the numerous development initiatives implemented to improve on the lives of the people.
He appealed to government to fulfill its promise of connecting the remaining houses to the national grid and constructing the CHPS compound to improve health care deliverey in the community.
The programme was to sensitize members of the community particularly politicians, parents and the youth to understand that politics should be practiced on the idea of bringing development and positive changes in the lives of the people in the community.
It was also an opportunity for government to account to the people on what it had accomplished and to reaffirm its commitments towards providing an enabling environment for the wellbeing of the people.
The occasion, which brought together the traditional rulers of the Electoral Area, parents, political functionaries and members of the public, also afforded the members of the community the opportunity to relay their concerns to local government authorities.
