Accra, Jan. 24, GNA — The La Area Church of Pentecost would organize clean-up campaigns once every two months to complement government’s efforts of tackling the sanitation problem in the city.
The church would also go into tree-planting in some communities to support government’s afforestation programme.
Apostle John Osei Amaniampong, La Area Head of the church, disclosed this at the launch of the Environmental Care Campaign in Accra on Thursday.
It is dubbed ‘Environmental Care Campaign—My Environment, My Responsibility.
Apostle Amaniampong said the church had made it a policy each year to identify an issue of national concern and tackle it in its small way for a sustained national development.
He said in 2017, the church focused on Entrepreneurship and Investment, while this year’s focus would be on environmental care, saying that, the church had developed various strategies to run a campaign to tackle environmental pollution.
The La Area Head said the church would provide bore holes for potable water in some deprived communities and also help create a Community-based Health Planning Services (CHSP) Compound to improve access to healthcare.
The La Area Head commended Zoomlion Ghana limited for partnering the church to undertake the exercise and appealed to the various Assemblies and organizations to support the church for a successful campaign.
