Ewusiejoe (W/R), Jan. 18, GNA - Many residents within the Ewusiejoe community in the Ahanta West municipality have expressed their disappointment and frustration over the neglect of a near to completion health post in the area.
The residents said the CHPS compound project which started in 2016 with a three months completion schedule saw significant work done in terms of block work, plastering and roofing, achieving substantial progress.
They said it is quite worrying that the contractor has abandoned the project due to the lack of payment.
The CHPS compound intervention in healthcare delivery in the country has contributed enormously to the improvement of health of the citizenry.
It has helped to reduce maternal deaths due to long travels to facilities in the event of emergency and making basic healthcare accessible to rural communities in particular.
Currently, the Ewusiejoe CHPS compound operates from a rented facility not so convenient to serve the purpose of a healthcare facility.
They said the earlier the situation is sorted, the better effect it would have on quality healthcare in the area, sustaining gains as well as meeting the SDGs goal three on good healthcare among other things.
Mr John Odoom, the Assembly member for the area, said the only outstanding work on the project was so little delay the project and deny residents a comfortable place to access health.
"I have been to the Assembly, the MP...the assembly people have also come around to inspect the project, some NGOs have also been around but to no avail", he said.
