Daboase (W/R), Jan. 15, GNA - The Chief Justice Her Ladyship Sophia Akuffo has called on the Wassa East District assembly to upgrade their new court facility to the expected standards of the judicial service.
She said this would help promote the expected confidentiality in the discharge of justice.
Chief Justice Akuffo said this on Monday as part of a week working visit to the Western Region.
Her visit was to acquaint herself with problems and challenges facing the judicial system in the region and formulate plans and programmes for the reformation of the judicial service.
Chief Justice Akuffo said the Daboase Magistrate Court did not have the confidentiality expected of it, since many of the offices were exposed to the public.
She, in this regard, gave the Wassa East District Assembly up to the end of February to provide her with the feedback on the reconstruction of a new magistrate court.
Chief Justice Akuffo, speaking to the leadership of the Assembly, said “this court is too exposed and does not allow court officials any privacy and protection...the service wants a standardize court across the country so that strangers who come to any community can easily identify our facilities”.
