Abofour (Ash), Jan. 13, GNA - The chiefs and people of Abofour, a farming community near Offinso in the Ashanti Region, have called on Mr Ben Abdellah Banda, Member of Parliament (MP) for Offisno-South, to use his good offices to facilitate development in the area.
They said the current state of development in the area, especially in terms of social amenities, was not the best.
Mr Kwabena Asumadu, spokesperson for the residents, who was addressing a press conference at Abofour, said the area deserved better in order to enable it continue to produce the needed foodstuff for the wellbeing of the people.
“We have for a while the MPs attention to our plight, but nothing concrete is being done to address our concerns,” he said.
Mr Asumadu cited the Abofour Health Centre which is in a deplorable state, saying the facility lacked the needed logistics to enable it to function effectively.
Additionally, the residents are demanding transparency in the sale of water from the three boreholes in the town, which were constructed from the MP’s share of the Common Fund.
“We want the Honourable Abdellah Banda to officially hand over those facilities to the community to enhance accountability,” he told the media.
Mr Asumadu said the provision of basic amenities such as health and educational facilities, clean water, rehabilitation of the road network and other infrastructure could go a long way in bringing significant improvement in the living conditions of the residents.
When contacted, Mr Abdellah Banda told the media that he had over the years worked assiduously to address grievances of the people for their wellbeing.
The Offinso-South MP said the provision of basic social amenities has been his priority and urged the people to remain calm as he was committed to their welfare.
