Supomu-Dunkwa (WR), Jan. 9, GNA - Supply Champions Company Limited has presented health care equipment valued GH¢7,000.00 to Supomu-Dunkwa Health Center in the Shama District of the Western Region.
The items include, filled oxygen cylinder with flow meter, fetal doppler, disposable syringes, and boxes of surgical gloves, thermometer (digital and mercury), boxes of clip bandages, pulse oximeter, metal shelves, bale of cotton rags, mop buckets with its absorbent material and sticks, sweeping brushes and other medical consumables.
Mr William Kweku Boitey, Managing Director of Supply Champions Company Limited, said the presentation was based on a request made by two nurses at the health center when he chance upon them in the community.
“During our conversation, the nurses said the center needed to be equipped with various medical items and machinery to make their work easier but the most pressing one was the oxygen cylinder; later, I was given a list of medical devices that will aid their work, hence, the need to support in this direction,” he explained.
Mr Boitey said the presentation formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility in supporting and promoting effective health care for the people, especially in rural areas.
“We have adopted this health center and this, is going to be an annual affair; I hope management and staff of this center, will put these items to good use” he said.
He said as an upcoming company, they would encourage philanthropists, organizations within the Shama District and beyond to emulate this example and support the health center.
“Supply Champions Company Limited, is a procurement company which specializes in oil and gas, marine, mining and all engineering consumables” he said.
Ms Juliana Kwaw, Senior Physician Assistant Medical, In-charge at the Supomu-Dunkwa Health Center, expressed appreciation to Supply Champions Company Limited for responding to their request.
“This would go a long way to assist the center in its health care delivery; especially the filled oxygen cylinder and the medical consumables” she said.
Ms Kwaw said the health center has many challenges but the pressing ones were an ambulance, hospital beds, bed sheets and spacious place for antenatal care.
She urged other companies, philanthropists and individuals to emulate the shining example of Supply Champions and support the center.
Ms Kwaw said the health center served some towns within the Western and Central Regions such as Wassa East District, Komenda and Kissi among others.
