Accra, Jan. 04, GNA – Apostle Gabriel Asirifi, the founder and care taker of the Lord of Sabbath Prayer Ministry International, has advised Ghanaians to patronize locally manufactured products to help the government to achieve its agenda of developing the nation beyond aid.
He said from all indications the government will achieve that agenda by 2020, thus Ghanaians must develop the taste for and utilize made in Ghana products.
He observed that in the past two years the government had set an unprecedented record by laying a solid foundation that would spur rapid socio-economic growth and development.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra, Apostle Asirifi reminded the government on the need to focus and resource various technical universities in the country to enable them churned out the required human resource base needed for development.
He said developing the nation beyond aid required advancement in science and technology, and the country needed to place priority in that area by ensuring that graduates from technical universities were given opportunities in the labour market.
Apostle Asirifi noted that Ghana was blessed with all the resources and had all what it takes as well to reach or attain the status of a developed nation, but until it placed much priority on science and technology, it would be difficult for the nation.
He lauded the government for reducing borrowing, saying the smooth implementation of the Planting for Food and Jobs, One-District-Factory programmes alone could fetch the nation enough resources to meet her development needs.
Apostle Asirifi regretted that corruption remained a huge societal menace, and a bane of accelerated national development, and called for concerted efforts to tackle the canker.
