Accra, Dec. 6, GNA - The Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG), will from Friday December 7 to Sunday, December 9, host the first ever badminton competition for schools across the country.
The three day historic competition, dubbed the "National Schools Championship" would be hosted at the Tema International School and promises to bring more excitement and fun.
The competition, is expected to host at least 40 schools including; Morgan International Community School, Akosombo International School, Roman Ridge International School, Lincoln International School, Ghana International, Smile International School and Christian Service International among other schools.
The schools, would be allowed to enter athletes into three different age categories; 11-13 years, 13-15 years, 17 -19 years.
An opening ceremony to signal the official start of the competition would take place at 1200GMT on Saturday December 8, at game venue.
Mr. Yeboah Evans, President of BAG said, there have been enough preparations to ensure the competition was successfully.
He said participating schools, had already received enough training and technical support to enhance quality of play.
Athletes who make it to the podium stage (medal level) would represent Ghana at the Africa edition of the Schools Championship, which would be hosted in Ghana from December 14.
