Accra, Oct. 21, GNA - Emmanuel Nartey, Ghana's leading Judoka, is set to receive a Doctorate Degree in International Law and Human Rights, after successfully completing his doctoral thesis, at the University of East London.
Nartey, who would officially graduate on November 22, worked on the topic, "Accountability Criteria and Remedy for Victims of Corporate Rights Violation".
The Olympian, would have his work published by the Cambridge Press on November 15, 2018.
Nartey, who has been a member of the British Army for almost 16 years, represented Ghana at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and subsequently at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo.
His thesis was aimed at identifying a coherent legal principle to establish a novel duty of care for corporate human rights violations and environmental challenges.
It also laid emphasis on whether tort and civil law, offer better accountability remedies for victims of corporate human rights abuses.
Nartey, who has also participated in several international judo competitions across the world, is also working towards making another representation for Ghana at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
In 2016, Nartey picked up a gold medal in the 73kg, at the Judo World Cup in Casablanca, Morocco and won the British National University Championship in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
The Ghanaian, who is keen on making further academic exploits is already working towards his second book, "Understanding and Solving the Mystery of Tax Evasion".
He told the GNA Sports that, it was a difficult journey for him especially combining research work with writing at the highest academic level.
"I am someone who strives to better myself and create a future where other people can find a resting place, a better world for future generation.
"It is also my dream about the future and making things happen. We must change the world for the better and create a sustainable environment for future generations," he added.
According Nartey, he remains committed to academic exploits as well as achieving laurels in sports for Ghana.
