Koforidua, Oct. 16, GNA – The Eastern Regional Football Association (RFA) as part of efforts to rejuvenate football in the region, will organize a special competition to entertain football enthusiasts in the region.
The special competition would see 74 clubs across the region participate in a 16 zoned competition.
This was disclosed by Mr. Linford Asamoah, the Vice Chairman of the Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA), at a stakeholder’s consultative meeting held at Koforidua.
The competition, he said would afford clubs the opportunity to introduce five guest players into their teams, as part of efforts to enhance the level of the tournament.
Mr Asamoah said, plans were still underway to fix a date for the competition, in all the venues across the region.
Mr Asamoah urged all clubs that cannot participate in the competition to notify the secretariat of the RFA before October 27.
Winners of the 16 zones would then qualify to play in the Eastern Cup, where the winners would then battle for the ultimate trophy at stake and a cash prize of Gh¢800.00,with the second placed team taking home Gh¢400.00.
The best player, goal king and best goalkeeper of the competition would receive a trophy and a cash prize of Gh¢100.00 each.
