Begoro (E/R), Sept. 28, GNA - Mr George Teye Borboryoe, Assistant Headmaster in- charge of Administration of the Begoro Presbyterian Senior High School (SHS) has expressed grave concern about results of students posted to the school this year.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Assistant Headmaster said out of 464 students posted to the school on the green track, only one had aggregate nine whilst majority had from aggregate 30 upwards with aggregate 52 being the worse.
Mr Teye Borboryoe explained that such situation will put pressure on teachers to work on the students to bring them up to an acceptable level and called on parents to assist in ensuring their children took their studies very serious at home.
He advised parent not to relinquish their responsibility to the government, but meet the government half way by providing the needed support to their wards to ensure that the double track system under the free SHS policy succeeded.
Mr Teye Borboryoe called on religious bodies, benevolent organizations and the citizens to help upgrade the current pavilion class room blocks in the school into a standardized one to enhance teaching and learning in the School.
Currently, government has provided text books for only the core subjects, which are Mathematics, English language, Social Studies and Integrated Science, with that of the elective subjects pending.
The Begoro Presbyterian Senior High School has over 2000 student population with both day and boarding facilities.
