Wawasua, (B/A), Sept. 05, GNA – The Pentecost Child Development Centre of the Church of Pentecost has constructed a12-seater water closet toilet facility worth GH¢83,124.30 for the Wawasua community in the Sunyani Municipality.
In addition, the Centre has adopted and is providing scholarship for 250 selected school children in the Municipality, up to tertiary level of education.
The children between five and 12 years were selected from Korosua, Yawsae, Benue-Nkwanta and Fawakro, all farming communities in the Municipality.
Compassion International, a United States-based charity organisation, is funding the Centre to implement the philanthropic work.
The Reverend Isaac Ennin Quaicoe, the Baakoniaba District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost said aside the spiritual development of members, there was the need for the Church to find alternative ways to meet the development needs of people and the communities in general.
He told Journalists during a handing-over ceremony at Wawasua that Churches remained a key partner towards accelerated growth and national development.
Rev Quaicoe expressed appreciation to the Compassion International for the continuous support towards development of local communities and advised the residents of the Wawasua community to take good care of the project.
Nana Yaw Boampong II, the Chief of Baakoniaba, thanked the donor for the gesture and appealed for more assistance towards the development of the area.
