Accra, Aug. 29, GNA - Women In Sports Association (WISA) would on Saturday, September 29, honour 26 female sports personalities at the Accra Sports Stadium.
They include Hor Halute, the sensational young sprinter who went to the finals of the 100m at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Speaking at the launch of the awards night, Madam Gloria Commodore, Executive Director of WISA, said the 26 women would be awarded from various disciplines including management, keep fit, supporters, media, rugby, swimming and administration.
She announced that Ghandour Cosmetics would for the first time sponsor the awards.
Madam Rosemary Gaisie, President of WISA, said their attention was to be a champion for all women in the field of sports and help to solve their problems.
She noted that the Achievers Awards, was their attempt to help bring attention and recognition to women, who have excelled and contributed to the promotion and development of sports in Ghana, not only on the field, but also off the pitch.
“We do this not only for those who would actually receive awards, but for the next generation of sportswomen, who would be inspired to jump higher, throw further and run faster,” she added.
She said Ghandour Cosmetics understands the importance of women achieving their aims and getting the necessary recognition, they deserve both on and off the field.
“Ghandour are our natural partners for our second awards and we are extremely glad to have them on board,” she said.
Madam Irene Donati, Brands and Commercial Manager of Ghandour Cosmetics said they were happy to be associated with the WISA Achievers Awards and promised to have a long term partnership with WISA.

The rest were; Helena Williams – Coaching, Mary Ennoo – Badminton, Akosua Nkansah – Para Badminton, Ali Ayishatu Zakaria – Media, Priscilla Adubea – Football, Kaya Forson – Swimming, Rafatu Inusah – Rugby, Nadia Darley Sackitey – Taekwondo, Cynthia Lamptey – Handball and a Special Award to be given on the day of the Awards.
