Ho, Aug. 20, GNA - The chiefs and people of Adaklu-Have are threatening a demonstration at Waya, the Adaklu District capital, over alleged refusal of the District Chief Executive to approve allocations by the Member of Parliament to complete a Health Centre at Have.
Mr Mateo Nonu, Regent for the farming community, told the Ghana News Agency that, tension was mounting among the youth, following the DCE’s alleged attitude towards the project, and that, the community would besiege the District capital and the Assembly, should the DCE remain adamant in approving the allocation for the project.
Mr Xorlali Anku, Adaklu-Have Development Committee Chairman said since the District was created in 2012, the community had not benefitted from any infrastructural project, apart from a donation of 150 bags of cement from the MP, Mr Kwame Agbodza, for some community projects.
He said the people felt left out of the development agenda of the District and would go any length to fight for their right.
The DCE, Mr Donkor Phanuel Kadey, said he decided not to approve the allocation because the MP had many uncompleted projects in the District and that he (DCE) wanted to ensure that all old projects were completed before new ones were initiated.
“They have the right to demonstrate but my position is that, the MP’s Common Fund is not the MP’s personal money. It is public money, so until we complete all outstanding projects, the Have Health Centre will not come on…, I can’t entertain the MP’s illegalities,” he said.
Mr Agbodza, said the DCE’s posture was to frustrate his projects because “the Assembly is not doing anything in the District”.
He said it was not true that he had many uncompleted projects in the District and that all had been completed except a health centre at Wumenu, saying that, he has about GH¢80,000.00 at the Assembly.
Mr Agbodza said the DCE had no “right to control” the use of MP’s Common Fund and that the practice was against the law and denying the people, basic social amenities and the rapid socio-economic growth of the District.
