The committee, is made up of Mr. Patrick Johnson, General Secretary of the GBA, Mr. Abdul Samadu Mohamed, Vice President of the GBF, Herbert Allotei Cofie, coach Ofori Asare, Technical Director of the Black Bombers, the national boxing team and Madam Catherine Agyapomaa Appiah – Pinkrah, a Director at the Ministry of Education.
The members of the committee, were sworn into office by the Acting Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Bawa Mohamed.
He charged them to work hard to unearth talents to bring amateur boxing to its glorious day.
Madam Agyapomaa Appiah–Pinkrah, on behalf of the members, promised to work hard to deliver on their objectives.
She said, the task was not easy, adding that, they were keen on winning international laurels for Ghana.
She noted that Ghana was a blessed nation as far as boxing was concerned and prayed that talents would be identified and groomed to become national and international champions.
Mr. George Lamptey, President of GBF, said Ghana Boxing was doing the right thing by deciding to go to the grassroots to tap the talents and hoped that the nation would fare well in future international tournaments.
Mr. Peter Zwennes, President of the GBA thanked SSNIT, GNPC and the other corporate bodies who are associating themselves with boxing and promised that their investments were in the right direction and will yield many dividends for the nation.
