Baatsona (GAR), Aug. 13, GNA - More than 6,200 delegates at a regional convention of Jehovah’s Witness in Accra, on Sunday rendered inspirational songs as they were exhorted by various speakers to join the crusade of our era.
The Witnesses’ Assembly Hall at Baatsona, off the Spintex Road, reverberated with the songs of Ga speaking Witnesses, their associates and friends, from parts of the Greater Accra Region, chanting the anthem, in allegro style, to indicate their strong belief of assured victory in the war, christened: “The Great Tribulation.”
In a concluding discourse and prayer at the three-day regional convention dubbed “Be Courageous!, Mr Tahiru Madugu, a Witness from the Ghana Branch Office of Jehovah’s Witness, assured the delegates of victory with the support from Jehovah God, immortal spirit beings, angels and the brotherhood of the Witnesses in the battle against all foes working against the plans of God.
Speaking on the topic: “There Are More With Us Than Against Us!, based on Deuteronomy 7: 17,21;28:2; 2 Kings 6:16; 2 Chronicles 14:9-11; 32:7, 8, 21; Isaiah 41:10-13, Mr Madugu reviewed some stories involving challenges of ancient Israel and how God victoriously fought for the faithful.
In our times, Mr Madugu said our enemies are Satan himself, hosts of demons, false religion symbolised in the Bible as ‘Babylon the Great’, the political and commercial systems and elements of the world that will stand in opposition to God’s Kingdom and spread of the Word of God.
In a comparison to some ancient rulers, who had to do away with some God displeasing practices, Mr Madugu called for self-introspection and seeking divine strength to do away with weaknesses such as corruption, viewing pornography, immorality, alcoholism and bad associations.
“Stop these things, and don’t associate with them,” Mr Madugu.
He urged the conventioneers to rely on Jehovah God through prayer, daily Bible reading and meditation, associating with fellow Christians and engaging in evangelization and Bible teaching in addressing challenging situations.
Other speakers at the convention examined why Jesus told a grieving father to “Have no fear,” and “The Resurrection Hope Imparts Courage.”
The convention, one in a series being held across different locations in the country also featured talks and interviews on using the Bible in practical ways to face present and future challenges with courage.
There were also multimedia presentations that used real people and even animals to teach lessons about courage.
On Sunday afternoon there was a feature film on why Jonah in the Bible feared his assignment and ran away.
On Saturday morning, 102 new converts were baptized at the convention into the Jehovah Witness faith.
