Accra Aug. 10, GNA - A 22 year old trader has been put before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a 14 year old girl at a Guest House at Glefe, near Dansoman, Accra.
Emmanuel Ayiku charged with defilement pleaded not guilty.
The Police say the victim is however pregnant.
The court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku remanded Ayiku into Police custody to reappear on August 21.
Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agnes Boafo said the complainant is the father of the victim. The victim lives with her father at Agege Last Stop.
According to prosecution, Ayiku lives in the same house with the complainant.
Prosecution said during the month of June this year, at about 2130 hours Ayiku lured the victim to a guest house and had sexual intercourse with her on three occasions.
On August 5, this year, prosecution said the victim asked her mother about the symptoms of pregnancy. The victim’s mother also questioned her if she was pregnant but she (the victim) denied.
The victim’s mother who was satisfied with the answer given by her secured a pregnancy test kit and conducted a test of the victim’s urine.
Prosecution said the test revealed that the victim was pregnant and she then informed her mother about her ordeal.
The victim’s mother informed the complainant and a report was made at the Police at Dansoman and medical report form was issued to her to seek medical care.
Following Police investigations, Ayiku was arrested.
