Yamoussoukro, Aug 07 (AIP) - Yamoussoukro Autonomous District faces major difficulties, including the endless chieftaincy conflict in most villages of the department, said the Prefect of the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District on the occasion of the celebration of the 58th Independence Day of Ivory Coast.
According to the prefect of Yamoussoukro, the question of traditional chieftaincy in the villages is worrying and must challenge everyone on the need to ensure the respect and vitality of the habits and customs that frame and organize the appointment of village chiefs. "Because the stability, cohesion and development of our constituency are at this price," insisted the prefect Brou Kouamé.
The representative of the Head of State lamented the recurrent land conflicts that hinder the development of the various localities and the non-respect of procedures and rules of urban planning, source, according to him, of risks and dangers for the populations. He recalled "the sad example" of the collapse of the four-storey building under construction in the millionaire district of Yamoussoukro.
The problem of insalubrity, the anarchic occupation of the public domain, the degradation of the ways, the straying of the animals and the problem of recurrent disturbances of the courses during the school year were also mentioned by the prefect Brou Kouamé.
"These phenomena are all worrying issues," said the prefect of Yamoussoukro, calling for the sense of responsibility of all to put an end to these "mistakes".
