Accra, July 25, GNA - The 1978 and 1988 year groups of the St Theresa’s School’s Old Students Association (STOSA) at North Kaneshie in Accra have made donated GH¢21,000.00 cash to the school to assist in the construction of an assembly hall.
The 1988 year group donated GH¢13,000.00 to support the assembly hall project and the 1978 year group also donated GH¢8,000.00 to aid the project and the purchase of a school bus.
The Old Students made the donation on Tuesday in Accra during the school’s speech and prize-giving day and graduation ceremony, as a way of giving back to their Alma mater.
The construction of the School’s Assembly Hall project has been dormant for a while after the sod cutting due to lack of funds.
Dr Akua Gyimah-Asante, handing over the cheque on behalf of the 1988 group said this was an initiative to mark their 30 years of leaving the school and the little they could do to support it knowing the challenges.
She said they owe huge part of their successes to the solid foundation given to them by the School hence the need to help.
They expressed appreciation to the administration and teachers for nurturing them to become responsible adults.
Mr Fred Macbruce, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Chairman, donating on behalf of the 1978 group, said this would support the Alma mater to advance the construction project as well as the purchase of a new school bus.
Sister Paula Nkansa-Okyere, the Headmistress, receiving the donation together with some Board Members expressed gratitude to the 1978/88 year groups for their support in ensuring that their Alma Mater was in good condition.
