Takoradi, April 27, GNA – The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Public Sector Reforms, Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo, has asked public service workers to show love and loyalty to the country.
They should choose the national interest ahead of selfishness, greed, individual comfort and convenience.
“There is the need for a comprehensive attitudinal change - public servants should move away from being self-serving to pursuing national and public interest.”
Mr. Boafo was speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement on the "National Public Sector Reforms Strategy Document (NPSRS) 2018-2023", held in Takoradi.
The public sector, he noted, had been characterized by unethical behaviour – corruption, apathy and ineptness.
Added to these, were poor records management and poor service delivery, the net effect was the lost of trust and confidence in most public institutions.
He underscored the need for a new public sector that was responsive, effective and efficient.
The NPSRS document, he said, was meant correct the shortfalls in the administrative service delivery system.
Mr. Boafo stated that the work environment for the public servants also needed to be improved through the supply of the necessary tools and resources to engender world class performance.
