Asafora (C/R), March 30, GNA - Anomabo Boys and Girls club on Wednesday donated eight sewing machines and teaching and learning aids valued at GH¢2,840 to the Asafora Integrated Community Centre for Employable Skills (ICCES) in the Mfantsiman Municipality of the Central Region.
Presenting the items, Mr Isaac Kweku Quainoo, the Director of the Club, reiterated that the group remained committed to promoting quality education in the area because education was the surest guarantee for successful future.
He explained that education was a shared responsibility and that it was imperative for well to do individuals and institutions to give back what they had benefited from the society by supporting education.
He assured the authorities of ICCES of regular practical skills training and empowerment workshops to build the capacity of teachers and students to enable them grow to become responsible adults.
Mr Quainoo counselled the students to study hard and eschew all forms of negative deeds that could derail their future ambitions.
He, therefore, tasked the School authorities to take good care of items to serve its useful purpose.
For his part, Mr Francis Arkoh-Mensah, an Official at the Municipal Directorate of Education in-charge of ICT and Statistics who received the items, thanked the club for their kind gesture and called for more support.
He emphasised that technical education was the solution to the unemployment situation that had become an albatross around the neck of the nation.
He expressed the Assembly's resolve to prioritise the needs of technical vocational education training schools and assured the School that service personnel would be posted to them to complement the efforts of the teachers.
Mr Arkoh-Mensah called for a change in perception about vocational training, saying most people make the technical and vocational their last option after they had exhausted all other careers.
