Accra, March 1, GNA - About 200 Ghanaian youth have gained employment through the Chinese Campus recruitment fair.
Mr. Chai Zhijing, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Ghana, said this at the second Chinese Enterprises Campus Recruitment Fair, which was held at the University of Ghana, on Wednesday in Accra.
He said the fair proved that Ghana was an important development partner of China and expressed the hope that such fruitful collaboration between the two countries would continue and promote the growth of Ghana-China friendship and cooperation.
Mr Gotfriet Amoo, President of the Ghana China Friendship Association (GHACHIFA), said the programme fell in line with the developmental needs of Ghana and after graduating from tertiary institutions, young people needed to work and practise what they had been taught in school.
He said the fair therefore served as a vital outlet for employing young graduates, who would otherwise have had no jobs, and also helped solve the problem of unemployment in the country.
He said Ghana and China stood to gain immensely from each other, if solidarity and friendship between the two countries was promoted.
Dr. Meilian Mei, Director of the Confucius Institute, organisers of the fair, said the occasion offered a good opportunity for Ghanaians and Chinese to interact and know more about their needs, and how to solve their problems together.
She expressed gratitude to authorities of the University of Ghana, for facilitating the establishment of the Confucius Institute and said the institute had since its establishment, greatly promoted corporation between Ghana and China,
Themed, "Serve Students, Serve Enterprises," the three day fair, is a collaboration between the Confucius Institute, and the Chinese Enterprises in Ghana and is being participated by more than 30 Chinese Enterprises, that are offering jobs in fields such as engineering, manufacturing administration.
The key aim of the fair is to offer employment opportunities to graduates from tertiary institutions, as well as young people from other walks of life who fit in with the employment needs of the participating companies.
