Zoomlion presents vehicles to AMA

Accra, March 1, GNA – The Zoomlion Ghana Limited has presented 10 pickups, 20 motor tricycles and other waste management equipment to support the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) in its efforts to fulfil the President’s initiative to make Accra the cleanest city.

Mrs Florence Larbi, the Managing Director of the company who made the presentation said it had been the desire of Zoomlion Ghana to help improve sanitation conditions in Accra, hence the interventions.

“In our support of the attainment of the President’s vision we have made some interventions such as the construction of a new sewerage systems, compost plants and innovations to help maintain clean environment in the metropolis,” she said.

She gave the assurance of the readiness of the company to support the AMA in its work and commended Mr Mohammed Adjei Sowah, the Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive for his determination so far to make the city of Accra clean.

Mr Sowah who received the items expressed gratitude to Zoomlion Ghana for the gesture to support in the realisation of the President’s sanitation vision for the city, adding that the AMA was poised to ensure sanity in the metropolis to maintain a healthy environment for all and sundry.

He gave the assurance that the equipment would be put into good use to promote good sanitation in Accra and reiterated his caution to the residents of Accra to desist from dumping refuse into drains and other factors that contribute to filth in the areas.

The MCE said the Assembly would continue with its education and the law enforcement drive as well as the provision of infrastructure and logistics to ensure clean environment.

He said the AMA would ensure that all tricycle operators were registered so as to help monitor their activities to prevent the dumping of refuse at unauthorised places.

“Henceforth, all tricycles in Accra will not be allowed to use the motorway as they carry refuse to designated dumping locations,” he said.
