Duayaw-Nkwanta, (B/A), March 1, GNA – Newly-elected executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the just ended constituency primaries in the country have been urged to avoid complacency and work hard to ensure that the Party remains in government for a longer period.
Mrs. Freda Prempeh, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North said the Party regarded constituency executives as strong pillars upon which the NPP could thrive and succeed.
She entreated the new executives to engage and actively involve candidates who lost the constituency primaries in the activities of the Party and sensitise particularly the voter population on the achievements of the government.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the aftermath of the NPP’s constituency primaries at Duayaw-Nkwanta, the legislator said the government needed more years to implement and sustain its flagship programmes for job creation and poverty reduction.
Mrs. Prempeh who is a Deputy Minister of Works and Housing, said government programmes such as the free Senior High School, Planting for Food and Jobs as well as the restoration of Nurses and Teacher Trainee allowances had lessened the socio-economic burden of citizens and must be sustained.
She said from all indications, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s vision of developing Ghana beyond aid could succeed, saying it behoved on members of the Party at the constituency level to ensure that it made significant impact in subsequent general election.
This, Mrs. Prempeh said could happen if the constituency executives interacted regularly with voters and made them understand the vision of President Akufo-Addo for Ghana.
The MP assured her constituents of her determination to do whatever was necessary to enable them to benefit fully from the distribution of the national cake.
Mrs. Prempeh said she was working hard to ensure that the school feeding programme covered all public basic schools at Duayaw-Nkwanta, Techire, Susuanso, Tanoso and Bomaa.
She said the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) had engaged 220 youth in various modules whilst 10 Arabic teachers had been employed in the constituency.
Mrs. Prempeh indicated that she had constructed 10 mechanised boreholes and built a durbar ground at Duayaw-Nkwanta, adding that construction work on the Tano North Constituency office she was funding was also progressing steadily.
Meanwhile, the Tano North constituency primaries ended successfully at Duayaw-Nkwanta without any hitch.
Nana Afodour Bonsu, maintained his position as the constituency chairman, Maxwell Adu Agyei, first vice, Kwame Boateng, second vice and Ruth Fosuaa, Women Organizer.
Mr Kwabena Akufo was elected as organizer, Gabriel Ankamah, secretary, Kenneth Adom Adjei, deputy secretary, Mr. Agyenim Boateng, youth organizer, Francis Akwasi Owusu, treasurer and Mr. Karim, Nasara Coordinator.
The election was conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).
