Accra, Feb. 22, GNA – A 20 year old, unemployed, Felix Kofi Boakye on Thursday appeared before a circuit court charged for robbing two persons at Madina on February 19 this year.
Felix was said to have robbed one Edwin Mensah of his bag containing an amount of GH¢ 564.00, and assorted mobile phone recharge cards and went ahead to also rob one Amoafo Dominic of his BMX bicycle, worth GH¢ 250.00.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges and was remanded by the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh to reappear on March 8.
Superintendent of Police, Patience Mario, prosecuting, told the court that the complainants Edwin lives at Madina Akosombo Junction, while Amoafo lives at Madina Latter Day Saints, whiles Felix lives at Pig farm and is unemployed.
She said on February 19, at about 1330 hours, Edwin who is a field distributer of Ruddest Resources Company at Dzorwulu, went to a mobile money vending container shop of a witness in the case to sell recharge cards worth GH¢ 564.00 to him.
She said soon after receiving payment, the accused arrived at the scene and ordered the complainant to surrender his bag containing the money and recharge cards to him, but he refused.
The prosecution said Felix, then pulled out a foreign pistol and gave a warning shot to the ground in the shop and took the bag. The witness jumped out through the window of the shop and confronted Felix, and during the struggle between them, he managed to retrieve the bag.
Superintendent Mario said sensing danger, the accused took to his heels, still firing to ward off people who have started pursuing him.
At a point at Madina Latter Day Saints, the accused person robbed Amoafo at gun point of his bicycle to aid him flee, but he abandoned the bicycle later but continued firing as he flee from the scene.
She told the court that Felix was eventually kicked down from behind by a witness in the case, and together with others he was overpowered and disarmed.
According to the prosecution, the huge crowd that was attracted to the scene nearly lynched him, but a police patrol team that was passing by went to his rescue and sent him to the station.
He was later rushed to the Police Hospital, where he was treated and discharged. The complainants then followed up to made a complainant against him.
