Accra, Feb. 21. GNA - Mr Andrew Barnes, the Australian High Commissioner to Ghana has bid a farewell to Ghana’s contingents for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, at a ceremonial at his residence in Accra.
The ceremony, which was being conducted by Australia High Commissions over the world was to encourage and bid farewell to the various teams prior to their departure.
The Gold Coast 2018, an international multi-sport event scheduled from 4th-15th April, 2018, would have Ghana competing in 12 sporting disciplines -Swimming, Para-athletics, Boxing, Shooting, Table Tennis, Hockey, Cycling, Weightlifting,
Athletics, Badminton and Para-Powerlifting.
Mr Barnes noted that his outfit was thrilled to host the Ghanaian contingent as all the athletes have come together for Australia to experience their unique hospitality.
He said, “all our embassies would be sending the teams off, which would give the various athletes a nice taste of what they should be looking out for in Australia”.
According to Mr Barnes some sporting disciplines like the Swimming, Women Hockey team and Boxing team can bring honour and medals for the country and raise the flag of Ghana high.
