Biriwa (C/R), Feb. 19, GNA – A four-day workshop organised by the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) Ghana, is underway with the aims of initiating collaborative research among researchers in Africa.
The workshop being held with support from the Alexander von Humboldt and the German Ministry of Education and Research is the second edition with participants from ten African countries.
A statement signed by Ms Rhoda Mahama, the Administrative Manager of the AIMS Research Centre and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said the workshop was on Stochastic Analysis, Research and their applications to financial and actuarial mathematics
Stochastic calculus is a branch of mathematics that operates on stochastic processes. It allows a consistent theory of integration to be defined for integrals of stochastic processes with respect to stochastic processes and is used to model systems that behave randomly.
“The workshop would include; mini courses and presentations by participants on Credit risk modelling and risk management, stochastic optimal control with applications to finance and an Introduction to Risk Theory”
The workshop would provide excellent platform for graduate students, young and senior researchers to increase and share knowledge in the areas of financial and actuarial mathematics in designing internationally competitive research proposals and effective communication of research findings.
