AKyem Afosu (E/R), Feb. 19 , GNA - The Agona Royal Family of Akyem Afosu has outdoored Nana Kofi Owusu Amoh III, as the chief of the town and Nana Akua Berma Afrah III as queen mother.
The ceremony was to present the newly installed chief and queenmother to the Chiefs and Elders of Akyem Kotoku Traditional Council, the Birim North District Assembly and the entire Afosu community after meeting all requirements of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Council.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nana Amoh III pledged to uphold the customs of the land and work hard to ensure progress and development of the area.
He promised to work hard to ensure peace and unity among the people and also to ensure that they had access to quality healthcare, education and to facilitate the completion of the Afosu market.
Nana Amoah promised to lobby for the construction of a police station and police quarters to help maintain security in the area.
He assured of the readiness of the traditional authorities in the area to release land for investors in the area to help create employment for the youth .
Nana appealed to the District Assembly to speed up with the construction of the proposed technical school at Afosu and also extend electricity to the completed health centre to aid its operation.
Nana Akua Berma Afrah III, the Queenmother promised to promote girl child education in the area to reduce the high rate of teenage pregnancies in the area .
Obrempong Kwesi Amoh Kyeretwie I, the chief of Abirem and Acting Kotoku Gyaasehene commended the people of Afosu for maintaining peace during the selection and installation of their new chief an d Queenmother.
He urged the people to support their new chief and Queenmother to bring development to the area.
