It said the competition was opened to 12 selected professional Ghanaian painters including; established painters and up and coming young talents to compete in themes focusing on the environment, social and portraiture.
It stated that each participating painter would produce one work on any theme such as environment, social, among others with no restriction on artist choice of theme.

It said the paintings by participating artists would be reviewed by a panel of five expert headed by Professor Ablade Glover, Artists Alliance Garry, Accra.
According to the release, the national painting competition 2018 was an ideal platform for valuable exposure for both established and emerging Ghanaian painters to a local and international audience.
It said,“ultimately, we must have a national Art gallery befitting of our middle income country status and we are hoping that the nearly established creative Art council will look to this proposition.
It noted that the Creative Arts was a viable avenue for creative jobs and complimenting the tourism sector, and GDTC would expose the works by holding exhibitions at selected Ghanaian diplomatic missions, which they believed also promoted Ghanaian arts and culture to the world.
