Tarkwa (W/R), January 31, GNA - A Tarkwa Circuit court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢40,000 to a 39-year-old drinking bar operator who is alleged to have repeatedly defiled a primary one school girl.
Kofi Ocran pleaded not guilty to defilement and is expected to re-appear before the court on February 27.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman, told the court that, the complainant, is an aunt to the victim who is 10 years old.
She said they live in the same vicinity with the accused at Samahu, a new site in the Prestea Huni/Valley district.
Inspector Anaman said the complainant usually travels to Kofi Gyan and Akotom villages on Thursdays and Fridays to sell her wares.
She said about two weeks ago, the complainant saw blood stains on the victim's panty and when she questioned her, the victim did not give any reason.
She said the complainant became suspicious and therefore started monitoring the victim’s movement closely.
The Prosecution said on November 22, 2017, at about 0800 hours, the complainant sent the victim to buy her a plaster but she kept long in returning, so the complainant decided to look for her.
Inspector Anaman said the complainant later saw the victim with Ocran coming from an uncompleted building adjacent to her house.
She said the victim run away upon seeing the complainant, but she got hold of her and noted that she had placed a piece of rag in her panty and it was wet.
The victim confessed to the complainant that the accused lured her into a room and had sexual intercourse with her.
She explained that any time the complainant left her behind to go to the market the accused took her to his chamber where he kept his drinks and used his erected penis to brush her vagina till he discharges.
The victim claimed the accused offered her One Ghana cedis any time he abused her sexually.
She said the complainant informed the police about what the victim had been going through in the hands of the accused.
Inspector Anaman said a medical report form was issued to the victim to attend hospital for examination and a report has been duly bben brought to the police.
The Prosecution said when Ocran was arrested he denied defiling the ten-year-old girl.
