Nsawam (E/R), Dec. 18, GNA - Nana Somuah Mireku Nyampong III, Kwahu Asomkrahene and Apagyahene of Kwahu Traditional Area, has appealed to opinion leaders to support the Government in its development agenda.
He said traditional rulers, assembly members, and heads of departments must all be on board in the successful implementation of government’s policies such as the free education, health insurance and one district one factory for quality life for the people.
Nana Nyampong also a Council of State member made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Saturday during his visit to Nsawam Adoagyiri to inspect some ongoing projects in the area.
He urged the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly to speed up the collection of tolls to support the projects and called on the Heads of Departments to be diligent and punctual at work.
He asked Assembly members to meet with the people after Assembly meetings to inform them on development decisions taken for their communities.
Nana Nyampong pleaded with traditional leaders to release lands for projects, especially for school structures, adding that without quality education the economic growth of the country would be meaningless.
Mr Isaac Kwadjo Buabeng, the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Chief Executive, who briefed the Council of State member, said the area was made up of 29 electoral areas with two small councils of Nsawam and Adoagyiri with one Member of Parliament.
Mr Buabeng appealed to the Government to rehabilitate their broken down caterpillar to carry out road works and also called for the amicable settlement of the land boundary issue between the Municipality and Ga East and Ga West to create chance for projects.
He said the population in the area was about 96,000 people with vast land for farming of fruits such as pineapples, oranges and pawpaw and pleaded for the revamping of the two fruits processing factories – Astek and Cannery to offer job opportunities for the youth.
