Accra, Nov. 22, GNA - The First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has arrived in Beijing, China for an eight-day official visit.
She was met on arrival by Ghana’s Ambassador to China, Mr Edward Boateng, and other government officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
The First Lady, who is leading a delegation of women entrepreneurs and members of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), would also visit Hong Kong as part of her trip.
Welcoming her at the Beijing Airport, Mr Boateng expressed the delight of the Embassy and the Ghanaian Community in China for the visit.
He commended Mrs Akufo-Addo for the initiative to lead businesswomen to seek for business and investment opportunities as a way of empowering more women to be business owners in Ghana.
Mr Boateng said China abounded in businesses, which Ghanaians could benefit from and, therefore, assured the First Lady that his team had made the arrangements to meet the needs and expectations of the visiting entrepreneurs.
He said he had also had a meeting with the women at the Kunlun Hotel and briefed them on some prior engagements with prospective investors in the extractive and manufacturing industries.
Mrs Akufo-Addo expressed her appreciation to the Chinese Government for the warm reception accorded her and her delegation.
The First Lady is accompanied by Professor Kwesi Yankah, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Education in charge of Tertiary Education, Mr Humphrey Kwasi Darke, the Vice President of AGI, and Dr. Stella A. Ennin, the Director of Crop Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research.
The rest are Mrs Janet Abobiyu, the Chief Executive Officer of Unijay Company Limited, Madam Comfort Agyekum, Businesswoman and Madam Ama Atwena Amankwaah, Chief Executive Officer of Creatline Senses.
Meanwhile, the Ghanaian women entrepreneurs have already met with the members of the China-Asia Economic Association Committee.
