Yendi (NR) Oct 25, GNA – Alhaji Shamrock Mahama, Board Chairman of the Zabzugu Senior High School (SHS) has appealed to government, Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service to post more teachers to the School.
He said the school especially lacked Home Economics and Geography teachers.
Alhaji Shamrock made the appeal during the School’s Board Meeting in the School at Zabzugu in the Northern Region.
He stated that apart from inadequate teaching Staff, there was also inadequate accommodation for boys, inadequate classroom accommodation, while the dining hall was too small to accommodate the students.
He announced that so far the School had received text books for mathematics, science and social studies without English text books, especially for the form one students.
He said although the School requested for 600 students for the form ones, 824 were placed for admission for the academic year and 790 had already reported.
According to the Board Chairman, there were 90 to 100 students in a class with inadequate furniture and had so far received only 20 percent funds government promised the schools.
He said the School was coping with the number of students admitted to form one and there was full cooperation among the teachers in receiving the form one students.
Alhaji Shamrock commended the outgoing Headmaster Alhaji Mohammed Abdul – Rahman and the Staff for their hard work and appealed to them to keep it up.
He also appealed to parents in the area to send their children to school to benefit from the free SHS education.
