Kumasi, Oct 16, GNA - The Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) has applauded the government for the implementation the fee free senior high school (SHS) policy and restoration of the trainee nurse allowance.
A press statement signed by its National President, Mr. Kwame Bonah Osafo-Ampomah, said it found these heart-warming and significant.
It noted that with the free SHS policy, every Ghanaian child would now have the opportunity to attend secondary school.
The association asked trainee nurses to be motivated by the allowance restoration to work hard and come as professionals to give back to society.
GRASAG pleaded with the government to consider raising the bursary and thesis allowance paid to its members by at least 50 per cent to help them to undertake quality research.
They have been receiving an annual grant of GH¢450.00 to the GH¢900.00 depending of the programme of study, and this, it said was “woefully inadequate”.
It additionally called for prompt release of the 2016/2017 grant to aid their research work.
