Accra, Sept. 28, GNA - Mr Anthony Avorgbedor, the Ketu North District Chief Executive, has called on the chiefs to do away with chieftaincy disputes to ensure the rapid development of their communities.
He said the situation where some chiefs were at each other’s throat did not augur well for the smooth development of their communities.
Mr Avorgbedor made the call at the launch of the Dzodze Deza (Palm Festival) in Accra on the theme: “The Human Factor: Key Ingredient to Positive Transformation and Development’’.
Activities planned for the festival includes football match, cycling race, quiz competition, lecture, street jam and clean-up exercise. It would be climaxed with a durbar on October 7.
Mr Avorgbedor said government would do everything possible to ensure that vocational and technical institutions were provided for the community.
He charged the youth to be obedient, respect authority and unite to form one formidable youth group to ensure sanity at all times.
Mr Avorgbedor charged the youth to take their studies seriously to enable them to achieve their aim.
He expressed the hope that the festival would be celebrated peacefully as it had always been.
Mr James Avedzi, the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, who chaired the function, urged the youth to refrain from adopting foreign cultures.
He appealed to the chiefs to unite as one family and fight for the development of the community.
