Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Sept. 21, GNA – Barely a week after the historic opening ceremony for the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Turkmenistan, is already basking in glory as they are overly satisfied with their delivery.
Turmenistan, after 25 years of independence, is hosting its first major event, and had exhibited to the world that it is ready to host any major international competition, taking into consideration the state of the art projects and world class sporting facilities at their disposal.
Mr. Azat Muradov, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Turkmenistan at a press conference said, “we have delivered something special to the world. The world is now aware of our capability”.
“We have 65 countries from Asia and Oceania competing, with over 600 media personnel covering this event. We are convinced the world has heard about us”. Mr. Muradov noted.
Mr. Muradov said they have exceeded the expectations of athletes, officials and the media, as well as inspiring the next generation of Turkmenistan.
According the NOC Secretary-General, they have created a sports industry that will serve the interest of the present and the next generation.
“Our national teams can train here for international competitions and the young children will also have something to train with in the near future.
“We shall also make the facilities available for other Asian countries to have their training camps and prepare for international events," he noted.
On the future of the country in sports, Mr. Muradov said, they will consider hosting other international events in the future.
According to him, they have done what it takes to host any major event in the world and taking a shot at other events would be seriously considered.
