Accra, Aug. 17, GNA – A Driver, Alhassan Mohammed, was on Thursday remanded by an Accra Circuit Court for causing unlawful damage and possessing firearms without lawful authority.
Alhassan was said to have caused unlawful damage to a single room self-contain worth GH¢20, 000.00, belonging to Victoria Owusu, and had in his possession one SMG riffle, two sten guns, 41 Oak Assault rifle ammunitions, 30 pieces of cartridges, and six rounds of pistol ammunitions.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges, but was remanded by the court to reappear on August 31.
Prosecuting Superintendent of Police, Kweku Bempah told the court that the complainant is a Trader, while the accused person is a Taxi Driver, and they both reside at Ashalaja
He said on July 28, the complainant went to Amasaman Police Station and reported that, the accused person had caused damage to her single room self-contain building at Ashalaja.
The prosecution said a team of policemen proceeded to the scene and arrested Alhassan. A search conducted in his room revealed the above listed items.
Alhassan was arrested and he admitted the offence in his caution statement.
